Micro-Mesh Gutter Guards in Oklahoma

Stainless micro-mesh that keeps leaves, seed pods, and shingle grit out of the gutter, so the system keeps working without you on a ladder every fall.

Gutter guards exist to solve one problem: gutters only work when water can move through them, and gutters fill up. In older Oklahoma neighborhoods with mature trees, they fill up fast.

Why micro-mesh rather than the alternatives

Screens and perforated covers stop leaves and pass smaller debris straight through. Shingle grit, seed pods, and pine needles accumulate in the gutter anyway, and now there is a cover in the way when you go to clean it.

Foam inserts fill the gutter channel with foam. Debris collects on top, the foam holds moisture, and things grow in it.

Reverse curve or surface tension systems rely on water clinging around a curved lip. They work until the volume is high enough that water overshoots, which in an Oklahoma downpour it does.

Micro-mesh is a fine stainless mesh over a support frame. Water passes through, and essentially everything else does not, down to shingle grit. It is the system we install because it is the one that keeps working.

What guards do and do not do

They do keep the gutter channel clear so water flows, which protects your fascia, your foundation, and your landscaping.

They do not make the roof maintenance free. The mesh surface itself still needs an occasional rinse, particularly under heavy tree cover, and the roof still needs looking at. Anyone selling you a product that never needs attention again is overselling it.

Worth doing when

Guards make the most sense on homes with real tree cover, on two story homes where cleaning the gutters is genuinely dangerous, and any time you are already installing new seamless gutters, since it is one trip and one crew.

Common questions

Do gutter guards actually work?+

Micro-mesh does, for what it is meant to do, which is keeping the gutter channel clear so water flows. Cheaper screen and foam products are much less effective. No guard eliminates maintenance entirely.

Will they handle a heavy Oklahoma downpour?+

A properly installed micro-mesh system passes a high volume of water. The more common cause of overflow in a hard rain is an undersized gutter or too few downspouts, which is a sizing problem rather than a guard problem.

Can you add guards to my existing gutters?+

Usually yes, provided the existing gutters are sound and hung correctly. We will look at them and tell you if they are worth keeping.

Do they stop ice damming?+

No. Ice damming is a ventilation and insulation problem, not a gutter problem. See roof ventilation for what actually addresses it.
