Oklahoma gets hail and damaging wind most springs, and a good roof can be finished by a single storm. The important thing after one is finding out what you actually have, quickly and from someone who is not paid on commission.
Hail damage is often invisible from the ground
Hail knocks granules off the surface and bruises the mat underneath. From the driveway the roof looks fine. Up close you find soft spots, exposed mat, and granules collected in the gutters and at the bottom of downspouts.
That gap between how it looks and what it is causes homeowners to miss filing deadlines on real damage. If your neighborhood took hail, get it looked at.
Wind damage
Straight line wind lifts shingles at the edges, ridge, and rakes where the adhesive has the least help. Once a course lifts and the seal breaks, it will not reseal, and the next storm gets underneath it. Missing shingles are obvious. Lifted and broken seals are not, and they matter just as much.
About the trucks in your neighborhood
After a storm, a lot of out-of-state crews arrive, knock doors, and push for a signature that day. Some are fine. Many are gone before the next season, along with any workmanship warranty they promised.
Do not sign anything the day of the knock. A real inspection does not expire, and a roofer who is still going to be here next year will not pressure you like that. ClimaTek is based in Oklahoma City, and Jack is the same person before, during, and after your job.
How we handle a claim
- Free inspection. We get on the roof, photograph everything, and tell you plainly whether you have damage worth filing on. Plenty of roofs come through a storm fine, and we say so.
- Documentation for your carrier. A written report with photographs, nothing padded.
- We meet the adjuster. We walk the roof with them so the damage is seen the same way by both sides and nothing gets missed on the scope.
- The work. Premium materials, an owner-led crew, daily cleanup, and a final walkthrough together.
If a storm has just hit your town, we may have a dedicated page for it. See where we work.
Common questions
How do I know if I have hail damage?+
Often you cannot tell from the ground, which is the problem. Granules collecting in your gutters and at the bottom of downspouts is a common early sign. The reliable answer is a free inspection where someone gets on the roof and looks.
Should I file a claim before or after an inspection?+
Get the inspection first. If there is no real damage, filing accomplishes nothing and puts a claim on your record. If there is, you file with photographs and a written report in hand rather than a guess.
Will my insurance rate go up if I file a hail claim?+
Hail and wind are typically treated as catastrophic losses rather than at-fault claims, and carriers generally handle them differently from an at-fault auto claim. Your agent is the right person to ask about your specific policy.
Someone knocked on my door and said I have damage. Should I sign with them?+
Not that day. Get a second opinion from a roofer who is based here and will still be here next year. A real inspection does not expire, and legitimate contractors do not need a signature before dark.
How fast can you inspect after a storm?+
Often the same day. Call or text 405-684-0450 and we will get you on the list.
